Meet Our Rockstars: Jose Montoya
This month I had the chance to get to know more about Jose Montoya, a Ticket Runner at our property Westwood Village in Houston, Texas. If you haven’t had the chance to meet our other Rockstar’s be sure to take some time to learn about Clara, Melyssa, Stephania, Aaron and Kiwi!
Jose has recently celebrated his one-year anniversary at Rockstar, he started working with us on June 7th of last year. “I was first hired by Kim Matamoros and Jessie Catalan on June 7th, 2019,” Jose said. He got his start as a make ready for one of our properties and with no previous maintenance experience, he strived to learn everything he could to make himself successful. One of our team members, Antonio Rodriguez helped Jose to learn the Rockstar way of doing things.
“One of the most challenging things for me was not to spray paint everywhere but by watching I was able to closely observe and apply the techniques,” Jose said. One of the most enjoyable parts of the job for Jose is being able to see a vacant apartment be transformed into a new home as our maintenance team put the work in to make them ready for our next resident.
“That wasn’t enough for me,” he said, “I wanted to take on more.” Facing the many challenges that come with being a ticket runner is what motivates Jose to do his best work every day. One of the biggest challenges that Jose has faced has to be plumbing and he works hard every day to master this new skill that he has taken on. Eventually, Jose would like to work up to be a regional supervisor with Rockstar Capital.
“Twelve months in, I definitely see the success that Rockstar can bring. Working with such a wonderful team has to be the most enjoyable thing about my day to day activities,” he said. Jose loves how Rockstar has been able to offer him hospitality in his introduction into the multifamily industry and is loving the events and bonuses that we offer all of our team members. Jose hopes that in five years’ time he will be driving a Rockstar car and proudly representing the company that he loves.
